Cruse ~ Richmond upon Thames Branch
Cruse ~ Richmond upon Thames is a part of the national organisation Cruse Bereavement Care which exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Services are free to bereaved people. The charity provides support and offers information, advice, education and training services.
Cruse is the leading charity in the U.K. specialising in bereavement with, currently, 138 branches and over 5,500 volunteers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Apart from a core of paid staff, mainly at central office, services to bereaved clients are provided by trained and skilled volunteers. Some branches have paid administrators, often part-time.
Cruse develops and delivers all its own training, which is based on its highly respected foundation course for bereavement volunteers, Awareness in Bereavement Care. This can be accredited independently by OCNW if students so wish. There are opportunities for continuing professional development with modules on specialist areas of bereavement.
In addition, Cruse provides training for other organisations and for those who may encounter bereaved people in the course of their work.
